25 Things I've Learned Since High School

1. You lose touch with some of your closest friends. Whether they’re from college or high school, it’s inevitable. Some will be expected while others will be heartbreaking. We go through so many changes at this point in life that we’re bound to lose some; But don’t worry, you’ll end up with the ones who matter.

2. You’ll be jealous of anyone who is more successful than you. College is the time where you are pressured to determine what you want to do for the rest of your life. We envy those who have it all figured out. It’s so important to transfer jealously into productivity so other people can be jealous of you one day :)

3. Your parents are usually right. Don’t forget all the advice they gave you growing up, you will give the exact same advice to your kids one day.

4. You question every decision you make. But it’s pointless to play the “what if?” game. Live in the moment and stick to your choices.

5. You’ll give your heart to someone that doesn’t deserve it, then one day you’ll come to your senses and ask for it back.

6. You’ll lose track of some morals & values. Your priorities will change but at the end of the day, your beliefs will always be there.

7. You see people around you get older. Whether it’s your parents or your grandparents, you realize that life is going on. You won’t always have them and there is nothing you can do about it but treat them with kindness and visit as much as possible.

8. You’ll do a job that you hate, but how else are you going to pay for all the alcohol you consume on weekends? Let’s not forget about rent!

9. Doing drugs is fun until it’s not. One day it will start affecting your life in negative ways. It will leave you feeling guilty and wrecked. If this happens, you should stop doing them.

10. You’re going to embarrass yourself in public. Don’t worry about it, just let it happen & laugh about it later.

11. You’re lucky to have all the things you do. So stop crying about an unreturned text message & gain some perspective!

12. You’ll find out who your friends are. There will be someone that drops everything and picks you up no matter what time of night or how far of drive. (I think that's a country song. Lol)

13. Don’t force yourself into loving someone. If it’s not working at the beginning, it will only get worse.

14. You’ll treat someone terribly whether you mean to or not.

15. You’ll always care about your first love. It doesn’t make you crazy; it just makes you human. Relationships as you get older are cut & dry, but you will always carry your first love with you.

16. There will be people in your life who are toxic, get rid of them. Even if they say they love you or they have your back, they don’t. You know who they are!

17. You will hook up with someone you would never even touch in sober daylight. Don’t get hung up on it, think of it as a good deed.

18. Loving yourself is hard.

19. You will learn what it’s like to live on 20 dollars a week. The lesson of frugality will treat you well. Meanwhile, don’t waste your whole paycheck on Friday night fun.

20. You’ll fail at something. Pick yourself up and keep on moving.

21. You’re going to have a roommate that does something to drive you absolutely crazy. It doesn’t have to get to you if you don’t let it. After all, I’m sure you drive them crazy too.

22. Men will be jerks and as women we need to learn that we can’t change them. This isn’t high school anymore, you can’t change them.

23. You will be able to remember song lyrics way more than anything you need for exams.

24. If you’re single, you’ll watch your friends get married… Now that sucks. But one day you will find something to fill the piece of your heart that is missing.

25. You’ll continuously put yourself in situations that are bad for you. They may become less frequent over time, just be careful.
